20-yard roll-off dumpster on a home driveway

Remodel dumpsters

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel Dumpster Rental

A kitchen remodel usually fits a 20-yard dumpster with 3 tons included, and a single bathroom fits a 10-yard with 2 tons. Each rental runs 7 days. Tile and plaster are the heavy parts, so size by weight as well as space.

Deliveries 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Book by 3 PM for next-day delivery.

What size dumpster for a kitchen or bathroom remodel?

A kitchen remodel usually fits a 20-yard dumpster with 3 tons included. A single bathroom fits a 10-yard. Two bathrooms fit a 15-yard. A whole-floor gut with kitchen and baths fits a 30-yard. Tile, plaster and stone counters add weight quickly.

How heavy is remodel debris?

Remodel debris gets heavy in three places: tile with its mortar bed, plaster walls and stone counters. Cabinets, trim and carpet are bulky but light. A full-house tile tear-out can pass the 3 tons in a 20-yard, so tell us about tile and plaster when you book.

Older home? Lead paint and asbestos rules

Homes built before 1978 may have lead paint, and older ceilings, flooring and pipe wrap may contain asbestos. Paid renovators follow EPA lead-safe rules, and asbestos must be tested before demolition. Asbestos is never allowed in our dumpsters.

Rules: EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (40 CFR 745) and EPA asbestos NESHAP (40 CFR 61.145). Confirm requirements with your permit office.

How long should I rent a dumpster for a remodel?

Most bathroom remodels finish demolition inside the included 7 days. Kitchens often run longer; keep the dumpster past day 7 for $25 per day, or schedule pickup after demo and a second rental for the finish phase. Call to extend before day 7 ends.

Where the dumpster goes

For a remodel, put the dumpster as close as the driveway allows to the door you will carry debris through. Our drivers set boards under the rails to protect the driveway, and you don't need to be home when it arrives.

  • Driveway protection: our drivers set wooden boards under the steel rails so the container does not crack or scratch concrete or asphalt.
  • Truck access: the roll-off truck typically needs about 60 ft of straight approach and about 23 ft of overhead clearance from wires and branches.
  • Street placement: a container on a public street or right-of-way usually needs a city permit. Your city page links the official rule.
  • You don't need to be home: the driver texts or calls 20 to 30 minutes before arrival. If the drop spot is clear, the drop goes ahead.

Blocked access (parked cars, low wires, a locked gate) means a $125 trip fee. More in dumpster placement and driveway care.

What can't go in the dumpster

Remodel debris (cabinets, counters, tile, drywall, flooring, fixtures) all goes in. Leftover paint must be dry, solvents and chemicals go to household hazardous waste, and an old refrigerator with Freon is $50.

Not allowed

  • Hazardous chemicals (solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals)
  • Wet paint
  • Batteries of any kind

Allowed for $50 each

  • Refrigerators, freezers and AC units with Freon
  • Mattresses
  • Automotive tires

Questions renters ask

Can I put old cabinets and countertops in the dumpster?

Cabinets, laminate, granite and quartz counters all go in a remodel dumpster. Stone counters are heavy, so load them low and flat. A full kitchen of cabinets and counters usually fits a 20-yard.

Can paint cans go in a remodel dumpster?

Wet paint is not allowed. Empty cans and cans of fully dried latex paint can go in. Leftover liquid paint goes to a household hazardous waste drop-off.

Will tile flooring put me over the weight limit?

Tile flooring is one of the most common causes of overage on remodels. Ceramic tile with its mortar bed is dense. For tile across a full floor, pick a size with more included tons or plan on paying $75 per extra ton.

Can I throw out an old refrigerator during a kitchen remodel?

A refrigerator goes in for $50 because its Freon must be recovered before disposal under EPA rules. Tell us when you book so the fee is on your quote.
